Our interest group “International Thai Cats” (ITC) which is operating for 20 years now is known to support the breeding of Thai cats for their conservation in many countries.
So it was natural for us to support the initiative of Italian Thai breeders for the recognition of the Thai breed by the worldwide-acting umbrella organization “FIFe” (Fédération Internationale Féline) by attending the recognition Show in Cernobbio (Italy).
The FIFe (Federation Internationale Feline) could also be called the United Nations of the cat associations. It has its headquarters in Luxembourg. The existing members of the national association currently represent 42 countries worldwide.
For quite some time the FIFe had received the request of an Italian breeder group headed by Katja Lembo regarding the recognition of our THAI-breed. On February 8, 2014, it has finally been discussed at an exhibition in Cernobbio / Italy. Since then, THAI is on the agenda of the FIFe!
Of course, we know that there is still a long way to go before our breed has arrived and appreciated completely in FIFe. By the end of March, the FIFe Board and the Breeding & Registration Commission intends to develop and publish the standard of THAI.
